This is a beautiful saddle entry from Big Dan Manasoiu.

He initiated from double under hooks + a butterfly half > classic ash garami > forces a reaction to execute a bottom saddle sweep + heel hook finish ☠️

Step 1: Gotta get cuddly to elevating

Goal Simplified:

  • load em’

  • lift em’

  • double unders assist loading hips from butterfly bottom half

  • *mental note: have to let/bait top player to commit weight onto your hips

  • stay rounded as you lay back

  • load hips

  • notice where butterfly knee goes for transition setup - knee is moving from R>L leg while hook stays in the same place all the way into saddle [forget about it mentally when you get here]

Step 2: single out a leg

Goals Simplified:

  • grab one leg

  • don’t let go

  • Initiate ashi by lasso’ing opponents leg with arm [do not let this go]

  • kick L leg through just enough to clear the knee and wrap heel on hip

  • * super naughty active R hand sliding up and down thigh forcing to stay close

  • Hold hand positions

  • R foot stays on the same hammy/ass cheek it’s been on the whole time - don’t dig that foot too deep

  • Drive L heel into and across thigh in front to go for heel hook

  • Drive with your L knee and guide with L foot in a curved angle downward

  • *Go for a real threat here!

  • L hand position sees heel exposure > change forces reaction, Josh has to begin peeling

  • Dan’s scissoring his legs while clamping above the knee

  • R foot hook is still on the R side…

Step 3: Watch Out Cowboy

Goals Simplified:

  • pull opponent onto hips

  • force arm post

  • bait n’ switch

  • compress opponent onto your hips

  • *note all limbs establishing grips in preparation for the black magic about to happen…

  • once weight is ontop of your hips, force the arm post by a slight elevation

  • Initiate the dark arts…

Final Recap

Keep this simple. It’s a chain of condensing weight onto hips, stretching out on a limb, repeat. Back and forth with real threats.

Ball up, condensing weight > elevate weight to extend attack onto 1 leg [doesn’t work] > ball up, condense, hidden saddle > FINISH.
